Harry & Meghan release new photo of Archie

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a new photo of themselves with Archie for their Christmas photo this year. The photo wasn’t released by the Sussex Royal social media accounts, but instead was released through the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust Twitter account. Harry is President and Meghan is Vice-President of the Trust.

The photo features Archie in the foreground right close to the camera with a smiling Harry and Meghan in the background next to a Christmas tree (or maybe that’s not a real tree and they used a background filter for the image? I don’t know since I can’t see well because of the B&W). The photo was in the form of an e-card style GIF.

Not going to lie, I’m really not a huge fan of the Sussex’s overuse of black and white images. Personally, I find black and white images for celebratory events like Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. for the royals to be annoying for two reasons: 1) they are trying so hard to seem artsy when they use black and white like that and I think it comes across as try hard and fake artsy; 2) I think it sucks the joy out of the photos. I said the same thing about Kate’s Borneo photos, too, that the use of black and white sucked the life out of them.

It’s a lovely photo of the family, I just wish I could see it better.

Also, I prefer the normal way of royals releasing official photographs: via their own social media and picture agencies and not as an e-card GIF. I understand Harry and Meghan wanting to try something new, but I’m not into it. Perhaps this isn’t the “official” official photo release and we’ll get something else later?

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! And happy Wednesday to those who don’t!
